Almaty Lake

This mountain marks the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.  The water from the snow melting (right) will never leave Kazakhstan and will most likely evaporate in a land locked lake. 

The Soviet union built this 1.5 meter (5 feet) pipe to give water to the people of Almaty.  The journey (hike) to "Big Almaty Lake" began near the fourth hill and continued from hill.....

to hill, to hill....

until finally reaching the very source of the water, Big Almaty Lake with snow melting straight into the lake.
